Dil Dosti Aur Dogs Movie Review: A Bark Without a Bite

Story:
Four love stories unfold through the eyes of their most loyal witnesses—dogs. As these furry companions observe heartbreak, romance, and new beginnings, they unexpectedly become the bridge that brings their humans closer together. But does the film truly deliver on its heartwarming premise?

Review:
Animal-centered films often have an emotional pull, but Dil Dosti Aur Dogs struggles to find its footing beyond its adorable canine stars. Director Viral Shah attempts to weave humor and sentiment into this tale of love and companionship, yet the film ultimately falls short due to weak storytelling, underdeveloped characters, and lackluster performances.

While the movie is visually appealing and packed with heart-melting dog moments, its execution feels shallow. The screenplay, co-written by Shah, Nisarg Vaidya, and Hardik Sangani, has an interesting premise—exploring love through the perspective of dogs—but never fully capitalizes on the emotional depth needed to make an impact. Instead, it leans on tired clichés, making it difficult for audiences to invest in the human characters.

Despite having talented actors like Sharad Kelkar and Neena Gupta, their arcs remain underwritten and forgettable. Kunaal Roy Kapur and Masumeh Makhija’s marital conflict had the potential for emotional weight but lacks proper depth. Ehan Bhat and Tridha Choudhury’s track feels forced, with Bhat’s performance being particularly unconvincing. The film’s weakest moment? A villainous monologue from a side character that feels utterly misplaced.

At just 101 minutes, Dil Dosti Aur Dogs could have been a breezy, feel-good watch, but instead, it fails to connect on an emotional level. The only saving grace? The dogs steal the show, bringing warmth and sincerity where the script fails.

Verdict:

🐶 Watch it only for the adorable dogs. Otherwise, this is a forgettable affair.
